Our advice on adjusting your gun

Basic settings for a spray gun:

  • Firstly, set the inlet pressure of your spray gun with a pressure regulator.
  • Set to 1.2 bars (pressure specifically adapted to our DA pro spray guns).
  • Air flow valve wide open.
  • Fan valve fully open, tighten a quarter turn, to adjust and clean spray edges.
  • Fluid valve fully open, squeeze the trigger fully, tighten the fluid valve until you feel resistance against the trigger.
  • From this position, tighten one turn.
  • Your gun is now set to the “Wide open” position.

This is the basic setting for all products, after-treatment, paint and varnish.

Of course, it is essential to adjust your setting with the product.

Our tips for adjusting and applying paint:

After wet / wet:

  • Pressure 1.5 bars, always in “wide open” position.
  • Paint, keeping your spray gun 10-15cm away from the surface.
  • Wait 30 minutes before applying the first coat of paint.

1st coat of paint:

  • Pressure 1.2 bars always in “wide open” position.
  • Always keep your spray gun 10-15 cm away.
  • Always maintain 75-90% overlap between coats.
  • Wait 20 minutes before applying the second coat.
  • You can use P800 sandpaper to smooth this first coat.

2nd coat of paint:

  • Same gun settings, same procedure as the first coat.
  • DO NOT STICK!! the second coat.

3rd coat of paint:

  • Apply the 3rd coat directly after the second, do not wait for the second coat to dry.
  • Pressure 1 bar, in “wide open” position.
  • Keep the gun at a distance of 30cm from the surface instead of 10/15cm.
  • The purpose of this coat is to smooth the paint.
  • Allow to dry for 30 minutes before varnishing.

1st coat of varnish:

  • Pressure 1.1 bar.
  • Keep the spray gun at a distance of 10-15cm.
  • Allow to dry for 15 minutes.

2nd coat of varnish:

  • Pressure 1.2 bar.
  • Same distance as the first coat of varnish.
  • The purpose of this coat is to smooth the varnish.

Your re-varnished paintwork is now complete.

Direct gloss paints:

  • Pressure 1.2 bars always in “wide open” position.
  • Always keep your spray gun 10-15 cm away.
  • Always maintain 75-90% overlap between coats.

These tips and settings are basic advice, of course.
